Position Title: HVAC Technician
FLSA: Non Exempt
REPORTS TO: Facility Manager, Supervisor of Maintenance
Terms of Employment: A full contract for this position is 240 days, with benefits as specified in employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on actual start date.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Commercial / light industrial preferred.
- Ability to lift 50-75 pounds to shoulder height occasionally.
- Ability to push/pull a minimum of 250 pounds frequently.
- Energy management and/or HVAC related experience preferred.
- Holds HVAC License.
- Must have knowledge of computer equipment and programming, energy management systems and different types of mechanical equipment used in the District.
- Must be willing to attend classes in energy management.
- Must have ability to understand mechanical blueprints and interpret drawings, interpret technical data, and make simple mathematical calculations.
- Must be able to maintain accurate written and computer records.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of building construction, materials, and maintenance procedures.
- Must have good telephone and communication skills, which are essential for the daily dealings with school and other staff.
- Must be a self-starter and demonstrate initiative in getting the job done.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintains readiness for control of building HVAC systems to preserve a healthy and comfortable environment and to operate connected buildings in an energy efficient manner.
- Installing heating, cooling, and ventilation systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This involves reading blueprints, following building codes, and ensuring proper system operation.
- Performing routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency. This may involve inspecting components like compressors, motors, and filters.
- Diagnosing and repairing malfunctioning HVAC systems. This includes troubleshooting issues such as faulty thermostats, refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or mechanical failures, and then performing the necessary repairs.
- Testing HVAC systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and meeting performance standards. This may involve using specialized tools to measure airflow, temperature differentials, and system pressures.
- Handling refrigerants safely and in accordance with environmental regulations. This includes recovering, recycling, and recharging refrigerants used in air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Schedules HVAC operations for daily education programs, extra-curricular activities, and afterÂhours events.
- Schedules all equipment downtimes (regular and holiday schedule) to operate the facilities at optimum energy efficiency while providing for maintenance of suitable temperatures and humidity of the building environment.
- Maintains archives, warranty data, record drawings and manuals.
- Maintains accurate records of facility conditions.
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
- Must be able to work independently, sometimes with minimal supervision.
- Attend meetings as scheduled by supervisors and district administration.
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
- Adhering to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others. This includes using personal protective equipment (PPE), following proper procedures for handling hazardous materials, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Present and communicate in a professional manner.
- Attend trainings as required.
- Maintain a professional relationship with students, faculty, administration, and community patrons.
- Must be willing to work overtime or after hours whenever needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
