POSITION TITLE: Hourly Adult Education Instructor -
Mansfield Juvenile Correctional Facility for GED Instruction and Attainment
REPORTS TO: Director of Adult Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 2-4 days / week; 8-14 hours / week.
BEGINNING: December 2024 / January 2025
LOCATION: Adult Education Center
*These positions are contingent upon the availability of funds. Due to the unique nature of an Adult Education assignment, working hours are flexible and personnel will be required to work shifts that may include day and/or evening hours. Teaching assignments may include sites other than the Adult Education Center.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Teach the course curriculum as outlined for and other instructional educational training programs developed for adults.
- Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain credentials
- Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
- Assist the director of Adult Ed in recruiting students for their programs, and assist with implementing new programs
- Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
- Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff at any training facilities, and prospective employers.
- Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
- Maintain a monthly time sheet and turn in at required deadlines.
- Work as a team team with advisors, career coaches, and SNAP case manager to assist students in obtaining available benefits and potential employment.
- Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting, if applicable.
- Ability to work nights.
- Carries out duty as assigned, including after-school or before-school duties
- Supervises students on recess, bus, during before and after school duty, on field trips, extracurricular events, and in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Skilled in teaching adult learners.
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance and demonstrates the ability to maintain positive professional working relationships with others
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Adult Education Director.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting.
