POSITION TITLE: Elementary Math Interventionist


FLSA: Exempt


QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet AR licensure requirements; minimum of three successful years in a classroom. 


REPORTS TO: Principal


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 193 Day employment with benefits as specified in employee contract.


BEGINNING: 01-03-2018


LOCATION: Pike Elementary



  • Have a strong work ethic and commit to doing what it takes for students to excel, including committing to an extended work day and remaining available to colleagues, students, and families outside of school hours.
  • Work with the teacher to design methods of learning that are most appropriate for each child. 
  • Evaluates each pupil’s growth in knowledge, and skills, in course being taught.
  • Addresses the specific needs of a particular child when regular classroom instruction is not sufficient. 
  • Work extensively with students to help them improve specific literacy skills.
  • Evaluate and report on the progress of students, and discuss individual performance and problems with students and parents.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development activities as assigned.
  • Participate in other activities in partnership with parents and the school community, including parent-teacher nights, school council and other committees.
  • Actively utilizes education technology.
  • Assist in administrative support programs and the work of non-teaching staff in schools.


  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
  • Diagnose and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education. 
  • Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or  the shoulders, bending, squatting.
